Too many people misinterpret the real meaning of karma. How does karma really work? The effects of good or bad actions in our present incarnation remain in our sub consciousness, and all the effects brought over from past incarnations lie in wait in our super consciousness, like seeds, ready to germinate in a karmically defined time whether mental or physical. Every action, unconscious or conscious will have an exact effect on our lives. Previous actions are not just those you did days, weeks, months and years ago but actions from your past existences as well. Each person by actions and thoughts become the architect of his or her own future or destiny and whatever actions unwisely or wisely he or she has performed must come back to him or her completing itself like a circle.
If you encountered a large crowd of ordinary people, physically healthy and well dressed, and if you had the gift of sight and power to observe their mental bodies, what a heartache and surprise you would have. You would see their mental forms with senses and feeling as the trunk, reason as the head and willpower as the feet and hands to be deformed, diseased and abnormal. You would observe that some have a puny head of underdeveloped understanding attached to a bloated trunk of sense hunger.
Some would have a wilted form of feeling and pep with the limb of corporate ability in excess. Some would possess a brain that is creative and large but the trunk of feeling and sympathy dried up and withered. Others still fairly normal in the body and head would be viewed as with paraplegic legs of self-control and willpower. Clearly, without a balanced life the progress of man’s nature cannot be hastened. Underdeveloped, spiritually retarded individuals should not try to jump-start to a higher state of consciousness. God is the sole judge of a man’s spiritual conduct whether it has been satisfied and to accelerate his realization nullifying some karmic debts.
Are we inevitably obligated to face the effects of our past actions as preordained fate? No! Deny karma. Overthrow the mighty dictator karma. The Heavenly Father is both love and law. He knows he has created us against our will and put us in a world of delusion. We are struggling and in trouble and He knows it. The Lord is not a tyrant. Those with faith and pure devotion who will seek His unconditional love and who brings his present actions into accord with divine law will always receive the liberating, purifying helping hand of God.
The masters from India tell us, “Let no one tell you that your problems or suffering are you own karma.” Shankara said: “you (the soul) have no karma.” If you could realize this one truth…you’re a God. As God’s child you are free. God has no karma. When you realize yourself as His child, what karma have you? It does take some realization to be able to realize this. You should affirm every day, “I’m God’s child not a mortal being and I am not this body which is born and passes away, I am not this mind that witnesses ceaseless changes, I am Sat Chit Ananda, (ever blissfully conscious of your eternal existence) I am HE one with Spirit.” Never in the back of your mind say “but I really am a mortal being.”
There are other steps one may take without fail to avert or lessen unfavorable karmic recompense to reduce or cancel out the harmful effects of past bad actions, such as cultivating spiritual consciousness for redemption and grace, love for God, devotional sincerity, faith, deep prayers to the divine and yoga meditation. However a balanced life is necessary for a loose emotional life and the great science of yoga mediation is incompatible.
Use commonsense remedies by relying on the power of the mind rejecting any limiting circumstances even in the face of contradictory evidence. Believe and affirm in success, strength and health. The consequences of your actions have less power to harm you by not permitting the mind give in to them. Resist effects of bad past actions by counteracting them with present good actions, hence creating an unfavorable environment to the fulfillment of your evil karma. Anything we have done by ourselves can be undone by ourselves. Our poisonous actions must have the proper antidotes. For example, often overcome ill health by obeying the laws of good health. Is karmic suffering inevitable? Well, yes it is if one is too lazy to take the necessary steps mentioned above. Classify yourself and you will find your own answer. From the teaching of PY.
