Death is not the end: it is temporary emancipation, given to you when karma, the law of justice, determines that your present body and environment have served their purpose, or when you are too weary or exhausted by suffering to bear the burden of physical existence any longer. To those who are suffering, death is resurrection from the painful tortures of flesh into awakened peace and calm-ness. To the elderly, it is a pension earned by years of struggling through life. For all, it is a welcome rest. But when you are rested, your unfulfilled desires begin to stir again, and you want to satisfy them. When these desires become strong, you reincarnate in a physical form. What is the purpose for all of this?
The Divine Purpose of Life-We Are On This Earth For A Definite Purpose
Man is a threefold being. He has a body, but he is not the body; he has a mind, but he is not the mind; he is the soul. And he is placed here on earth not merely to study, make money, marry and have children, grow old and die. We are on this earth for a definite purpose — to reclaim, as Christ taught, our lost divine heritage as sons of God. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
We have all heard this before, but who among us has realized it? There is a difference between theoretical understanding of the science of religion, the science of the soul, and the direct perception of the Divine Beloved that every human heart —and I know I am speaking of each one of you —is craving. From the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda.
